Frequently Asked Questions
A: Alkyl Dimethyl Ethylbenzyl Ammonium Chloride and Benzalkonium Chloride which are quaternary ammonium compounds that demonstrate antimicrobial activity.
A: Auto Oxide’s disinfectant has a PH of 7 which is the same PH as water which means that it will not irritate on skin contact, as well as not damage surfaces.

A: Auto Oxide’s solution is based on an active ingredient called Quaternary Ammonium Chloride (Quat). Quat has a cationic surfactant meaning that its chemical compounds are positively charged.
Every living organism, whether it’s bacteria, virus, yeast, or mold all have negative charges.
Once you spray Auto Oxide’s solution with its positive charged compounds, they bind with the negative charges of the virus/bacteria and they damage the cell wall or the envelope of the virus. Since Coronavirus is an enveloped virus, once the envelope wall is damaged, the DNA of the virus is then attacked.
Since Coronavirus is an enveloped virus, once the envelope wall is damaged, the DNA of the virus is then attacked.

A: Cleaning products remove germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces by using soap (or detergent) and water. Cleaning does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection. Disinfecting products kill germs on surfaces using chemicals. Use only approved hard-surface disinfectants that have a Drug Identification Number (DIN).
A: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting all have different definitions:
- Cleaning removes germs, dirt, and other impurities from surfaces, but doesn't necessarily kill them.
- Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects—either by killing them or removing them—to a safe level, according to public health standards or requirements.
- Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects.
*The CDC recommends wearing disposable gloves for cleaning and then disinfecting surfaces. If a surface appears dirty, it should be wiped down with soap and water prior to disinfection.
A: Auto Oxide’s disinfectant is ready-to-use (RTU) and requires no additional dilution or mixing except if being used to sanitize food contact surfaces where a dilution of 1 part/10 parts in 500 ppm hard water (200 ppm active) is required as a no rinse solution.
A: RTU Poly-Quat demonstrated effectiveness against Human Coronavirus and is expected to inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19).
A: When disinfecting a surface or decontaminating a facility, the efficacy of a product is measured by its log reduction, also commonly known as log kills. The term comes from the logarithm scale, which is used to indicate the percentage of bacteria killed. The term “log reduction” indicates a 10-fold reduction, which means that with every step, the number of bacteria present is reduced by 90 percent.
As an example, if there are one million bacteria present on a surface, a 1-log reduction would reduce the number of bacteria by 90 percent, or 100,000 bacteria remaining. A 2-log reduction removes 99 percent, leaving behind 10,000 bacteria, 3-log removes 99.9 percent to leave behind 1,000 bacteria, and so on through a 7-log kill, which leaves behind only one cell in one million.
A: Auto Oxide’s disinfectant is shelf stable. It is stabilized to return over 98% of its strength over three years if unopened. Once opened the shelf life will depend on storage conditions.
A: Disinfectant should be stored in a cool and dry location away from reach of children. Avoid heat or freezing conditions or under conditions in which product could evaporate. Keep tightly closed when not withdrawing liquid and store upright.
A: You can use it as a trash can, dirt- sawdust- sand or salt container for parking lot, as a BBQ grill, and of all things, even make it into a musical instrument. You can throw it away- although we encourage you to be environmentally responsible and recycle it. Check with your local environmental services agency or plastics recycling center. Many locations will accept clean, nonhazardous drums for recycling. You may also find local companies willing to pick up and pay you for the drum.
A: Coverage area may vary because of surface type and application methods. 1 gallon can cover up to 5000 square feet if applied with the VHP1 sprayer.
A: 80 ml will disinfect a car and 100 ml is required for an SUV
A: Approximately 3-5 minutes
A: 40 lbs

A: 14”-20” from surface being sprayed
A: *No rinsing or wiping is required after application of the Auto Oxide solution using one of our sprayers.
*Must follow recommended spraying distance.
If not diluted, a rinse with potable water is required for food contact surfaces.
A: There are many variables that can affect drying times including temperature, humidity, air flow, and particle size.
A: In testing, we found that disinfecting using our sprayers is 50% faster and uses 50% less disinfectant solution versus a manual spray and wipe application, increasing efficiency and saving you time and money.
A:
- Touchless application
- Reduces possibility of cross contamination
- Better disinfectant adhesion and coverage
A: Auto Oxide’s formula is non-irritating to the skin and non-corrosive, therefore PPE is not required, however is recommended, particularly for continual daily use.
A: Auto Oxide’s formula contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It leaves no toxic fumes, no toxic residue and no pollutants in the atmosphere.
A: Yes, Auto Oxide’s disinfectant will not harm your plants if sprayed in the vicinity.
A: Yes, the BHHF10 can be used but spraying distance should be 20”-30”away from surface in order not to require wiping.
A: Yes, it comes with an 18 Volt Lithium-Ion Battery. A charger and second battery come with each sprayer.
A: The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first.
A: No, the backpack fogger should not be used to spray vehicles. It is meant to be used only on larger spaces.
A: ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY – Auto Oxide will repair or replace, without charge, any defective product due to faulty materials or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover part failure due to normal wear and tear. This warranty does not apply to damage caused where repairs have been made or attempted by others. Using any solution other than Auto Oxide’s disinfectant will void warranty.
